DATA STEWARDSHIP

Protecting Victim and Criminal Justice Data for 30+ Years

VINE is committed to data security and reliability.

Data Security Is In Our DNA

In 2021, VINE was acquired by Equifax, a leader in data security and privacy.

Equifax consistently surpasses established security benchmarks through the application of rigorous standards and the adoption of cross-industry leading security innovations. This means greater protection, reliability, and trust for everyone involved with the VINE network and the data it uses.

This approach underscores a commitment to safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring the integrity of the services provided.

VINE Does Not Sell Victim Data

Victim data is strictly used to enable the VINE notification service. We do not sell, share, or commercialize victim data.

States Retain Full Control

We work with designated state contacts during setup and to ensure all service delivery complies with applicable laws. The state agency drives who we work with on any needed data integrations.

With A Proactive and Advanced Approach to Security

VINE follows industry security guidelines to keep data secure.

  • The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy

  • The SOC 2 Trust Services Criteria

To ensure we're meeting these high standards, Equifax hires a highly recognized independent firm to conduct a thorough security check (SOC 2 Type II audit) each year.

While Safeguarding Victim Information

Any information that registrants, such as victims and survivors, input is anonymous and confidential. Their information is never used for purposes other than delivering the VINE service to them.

Access Reliable Data From the Source

We integrate with state systems throughout the U.S. to provide automated notifications at critical points in the criminal justice process.
